Evangel Hall Mission is fortunate to have supporters right across Canada
One shining example of this is the Sunday School group from First Presbyterian Church, Pictou, Nova Scotia. Hearing about ehm from her parents inspired Heidi Spurr to invite her Sunday School group to designate us as their mission project for the year. They held a variety of fundraising events throughout the year and took up a weekly collection. Last October, they forwarded ehm a cheque for $2,300 to use for ehm’s programs.
We extend a big thank you to a group of young people with a big heart!

Evangel Hall Mission: A special place for more than 90 years.
Since 1913, Evangel Hall Mission has been addressing the needs of disadvantaged and homeless men, women and youth in the Queen and Bathurst Area. Over the years we have grown from being a traditional “soup kitchen” into a full service agency with multiple programs to meet the growing needs of our community members.
Every day at ehm we...
- Serve 150 people in our drop-in centre
- Provide 200 hot meals for the hungry
- House 130 people in fully furnished affordable housing units
- Help to meet the spiritual and emotional needs of socially isolated people
- Support at risk youth through mentoring, social and recreational activities
- Provide free health and dental services to people without access to care

A community of compassion and a place of hope. For almost 100 years, Evangel Hall Mission has helped homeless, socially isolated, marginalized and impoverished individuals find a safe haven from the streets. Every day, ehm will feed, clothe, and find shelter for up to 200 men and women. Here they find showers, laundry facilities, sundry items and toiletries needed to keep their body and mind healthy and dignified.
We provide material, emotional and spiritual help, but ehm is much more than a helping hand; it is a supportive community that breaks the bonds of loneliness, isolation and despair. Everybody is welcomed with a warm smile and kind heart.
Community at ehm means that everyone is valued regardless of their background, race, status or abilities. Community at ehm means having the opportunity to ‘give back’ through meaningful volunteer opportunities. Nearly 1,500 volunteers contribute 26,000 hours of volunteer service every year. Everyone has the opportunity to contribute to the common welfare of ehm in whatever way is practical.
