Affordable Housing

The ehm Residence provides a safe, affordable and dignified place to call home for over 120 residents who were on the street or vulnerable to becoming homeless. Tenants reflect the diversity of the neighborhood around ehm coming from a wide variety of backgrounds, origins, and abilities. However, one thing they share is suffering from the debilitating effect that homelessness has on their life. We are proud of the success that many residents find when they go back to school or retraining, find employment, reconnect to family, or develop a hobby, skill or significant volunteer commitment.

This is reflected in the emotional, physical and spiritual well being of residents. We can see them stand taller with the strength of a supportive community helping them find or recover skills and talents.

The celebration of community and social events is an important part of everyday life. Residents participate in social - recreational activities such as movie nights, bingo, cooking classes, gardening, and holiday festivities. Educational activities such as presentations on pet ownership, career development, employment search and neighborhood safety are popular, as our outings to the Science Centre, Art Gallery and Blue Jays games.

These activities contribute to making ehm a welcoming community, supporting residents in developing a new and fulfilling life.
